Annotated Bibliography

Gibb, Sheree, David Fergusson, L Horwood, and Joseph Boden. “The Effects of

Parenthood on Workforce Participation and Income for Men and Women.”

Journal Of Family & Economic Issues. 35.1 (2014): 14-16. Web. 18 March. 2014.
This article talked about how parenthood affects men and women in the
workplace. This is one of my topics that I want to include in my paper. This topic has been a major area of study. This article argues that effects of parenthood in the workplace is different between men and women. Parenthood for women in the workplace usually means quitting their job so they can take care of the kids at home, which decreased their work hours. For men it usually increases the amount of work hours they can have. This can be a good or bad thing for men and women. My paper will discuss why this article is accurate in its findings.

Parcheta, Nicole, Belal Kaifi and Nile Khanfar. “Gender Inequality in the Workforce: A

Human Resource Management Quandary.” Journal Of Business Studies

Quarterly. 4.3 (2013). 240-248. Web. 18 March 2014.
This article talks about the difference in how men and women are paid in the workforce. It        discusses how women are paid less than men. Women go to college and get degrees just like men do. There should be no wage gap, unless the person is higher up in the company or business. This article can help contribute to my argument.
Melconian, Linda J. "Gender Pay Equality: The Effectiveness Of Federal Statutes And
Recent U.S. Supreme Court Decisions." Forum On Public Policy: A Journal Of The Oxford Round Table. 2010.2 (2010). 1-22. Political Science Complete. Web. 18 Mar. 2014.
This is also a good article for my paper. This will help me back up my statements. There is a major problem when it comes to pay wages. This article talks about how the difference in pay wages denies women many things and discusses how the U.S Supreme Court has a major impact on this problem getting fixed. The authors look at how the Supreme Court and Federal Statues decisions have impacted inequality in the workforce.
Channar, Zahid Ali, Zareen Abbassi, and Imran Anwar Ujan."Gender
Discrimination In Workforce And Its Impact On The Employees." Pakistan Journal Of Commerce & Social Sciences. 5.1 (2011). 177-191. Business Source Complete.Web. 18 Mar. 2014.
Sex discrimination is another topic I want to include in my paper. There are many people in the world today that have been affected by this. Sex discrimination has made many people those there jobs. This paper discusses the effects it has on employees. It also stated that women and more discriminated against in the workplace than men. These statements can help make my paper better.
Carnes, William J., and Nina Radojevich-Kelley. "The Effects Of The Glass Ceiling On
Women In The Workforce: Where Are They And Where Are They Going?." Review Of Management Innovation & Creativity. 4.10 (2011). 70-79. Business Source Complete. Web. 18 Mar. 2014.
This article discusses how men have higher positions in the workforce than women do. It was also stated that since women often choose to start their own businesses because they need to have some flexibility. Women have started and owned more than one quarter of all non-farm U.S. businesses and this is great but what about the women who don’t have the money to start their own business, it’s not fair.
Mednick, Martha T. "Sandra Schwartz Tangri (1937-2003)." American Psychologist.
59.4 (2004). 265. PsycARTICLES. Web. 18 Mar. 2014.
Martha passed away in 2003, she was a psychologist who studied sexual harassment in the federal workforce. This could be another topic that I discuss within my paper. Sexual harassment can be seen as a joke but this takes place everywhere, not only in the workplace.
Kramer, Zachary A. "The New Sex Discrimination." Duke Law Journal. 63.4 (2014):
891-953. Academic Search Complete. Web. 18 Mar. 2014.
This paper discusses the proposition of making new laws to make sex discrimination even stricter. The author states that sex discrimination does not target all men or all women, he thinks that the victims of sex discrimination are certain men and women who do not or cannot conform to the norms of the workplace. This paper will make my paper have different ideas, meaning its not always about if your male or female you can get discriminated against because you don’t know how to do something correctly.
