Ways of Seeing Response
"From Ways of Seeing" raised some very good points about how men and women act in today's society. It is true that women often pay attention not only to who they are but to how they display themselves to others, as this indicates how they are treated by men. I have seen many examples of this in my everyday life, as friends and other women around me have often received labels and assumptions on their true selves based on how they dress and act, which can determine how desirable they are to men. However, I was unaware of how paintings of women during the Renaissance were designed to appeal to men. These types of images of women definitely still exist in society today, with covers and spreads in magazines like Maxim and Playboy. Women are photographed to appeal to the desires of men, much like paintings of women served the same function during the Renaissance era.

I was also unaware that paintings of women during the Renaissance were designed to appeal to men. Kind of funny to think that paintings of women back then are just like today's Playboy.
